It is vitally important for discussion of effectively research funding allocation to construct a system to visualize how linking Government funding and research output including patent, because the government finances are severely squeezed.
Competitive funding data on e-Rad and non-competitive funding data from related organizations were merged. The purpose is to collect data about all research funding allocation to researchers on national university corporations, inter-university research institute corporations, and research and development institutions.
The Cabinet Office obtained bibliographic data on research output, such as the number of articles and citations, and analyzed the relationship between the input and the output.
Research input (FY2018) and research output (2018) were linked by information about individual researchers as nodal point.
Research input (FY 2018) should be linked to data about research output after 2019, but it was not obtained. Therefore, this analysis was conducted on the assumption that a trend of funding before 2017 doesn’t differ from 2018.
Human resources masters that each institution have provided to Cabinet Office were used as information about each researcher on e-Rad.
